Athlete of the Week: St. Dominic's Emily Weaver Crowned Winner

The St. Dominic soccer player topped the latest St. Charles County Athlete of the Week poll.

Emily Monroe is the latest St. Charles County Athlete of the Week.

Weaver was part of a potent St. Dominic attack that powered its way into the Final Four of the State tournament. Her offensive exploits didn't go unnoticed. Weaver eked out a one-vote victory to capture the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week crown.

Here's  how the voting went down :

Who was the St. Charles County player of the week for the week beginning on May 21?

  • Josh McDonald—Timberland: 1 vote (9 percent)
  • Nataliyah Friar—Holt: 1 vote (9 percent)
  • Emily Monroe—St. Dominic: 5 votes (45 percent)
  • Alexis Robbers—Orchard Farm: 4 votes (36 percent)

Emily Monroe and the St. Dominic girls soccer team are on quite a run. The Crusaders are in the Final Four of the Class 2 State tournament after back-to-back wins last week. Both wins for St. Dominic came in impressive fashion—on May 22, the Crusaders won 6-0 and on May 26, the girls won 8-1. The offense has been pretty spread out among the team, but the biggest contributor last week was Emily Monroe. Against Union, Monroe netted two goals to pace the Crusaders' offense. In the next game against Visitation, Monroe was at it again. She scored another two goals, including the game-winner to put St. Dominic into the Final Four.
