Board of Aldermen Ready for First February Meeting
Light work session and meeting agendas on tap for the first meeting this month of the St. Peters board.
The last time the St. Peters Board of Aldermen got together, they were faced with a short meeting agenda and a longer work session agenda. Thursday night the script be reversed.
The Board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. for a work session and 7 p.m. at the St. Peters Justice Center. If the length of the agendas are any indication, it could be a short day of work for the Mayor and the Aldermen.
The work session agenda has just two main of contention. First off, the Board will discuss a draft resolution relating to property taxes. The Board will be discussing a proposal to write off unpaid property taxes that are more than five years past due. The Board has approved such a measure in the past.
Next up, the Board will hear about proposed changes to city code. Last last year, the Board and Mayor were made aware of state changes and the impact it would have on city code, thus changes needed to be made to reflect the state changes. The code changes relate to alcohol sales, tattooing and body piercing.
Following those two items, the Board will head to the regular meeting. As opposed to the two voting items last month, this meeting will have Board voting on six different items. Among the voting items are:
- The Board will formally approve, or deny, a road change request for the area near 370 Lakeside Park.
- A contract for a Pavement Marking Installation Program is also on the agenda.
- Blue recycling bags that need to be purchased will also be voted on by the Board.
- The Board will vote for a contract "to execute a termination of temporary construction easements release for fifteen (15) temporary construction easements previously granted to the City of St. Peters by Mexico Investment Syndicate for construction of certain City of St. Peters Public Works projects."
The work session begins at 5 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. Board of Aldermen meetings and work sessions are broadcast on Charter Cable channel 992 and U-Verse channel 99. Replays of the meetings are played periodically throughout the month. Board of Aldermen meetings are also available online to view live or on demand.
