The morning after a massive fire at the Circle K in St. Peters, cleanup crews were at the scene picking up the damage.

A fire that Central County Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Steve Brown said may have started in a storage closet broke out Monday afternoon. Firefighters were on the scene for several hours battling the blaze.

Just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday the sound of a chain saw could be heard as crews began picking up and cleaning out the debris. A pile of rubble—notably the front mansard that displayed the Circle K logo—sat in front of the store as crews were working inside and out to pick up the mess.

"It's a total loss at this time," Brown said about the state of the building.

The Map on this page suggest that the responding Department came from the Salt Lick/InterState 70 Fire House. This is strange as the Taj Mahal on Willott is only 1/2 the driving distance. It could be the reason that the building was totally destroyed.

The map on this page shows the home base of Central County (where the administrative offices are), not what house responded. Assistant Chief Brown said the crews were on the scene within minutes because the actual responders were so close by.
