Gift Card Bargain Turns Into Felony Charge
St. Peters Police said the man knew the JC Penney gift cards were stolen when he bought them at half the face value
A St. Charles man faces a criminal charge after telling police he bought $1,000 in JC Penney gift cards at half the face value.
Philip Snipes, 38, of the 2000 block of Avignon Street in St. Charles, was charged Aug. 29 with receiving stolen property, a class D felony.
St. Peters Police said in a report that Snipes admitted he knew the gift cards probably were stolen when he bought them Feb. 13.
Bond was set at $1,000, cash only.
