Golden Triangle CentreTorn Down
The St. Peters shopping center was being torn down Monday afternoon to make room for a new CVS Pharmacy.
CVS Pharmacy is planning on opening a store on the corner of Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Mexico Road in St. Peters.
Before the store could open, it would have to be built. Before the pharmacy could be built, the Golden Triangle Centre would have to be torn down.
CVS bought the property with the intention to tear it down and build the pharmacy, forcing the tennants to move. On Monday, all the tennants were gone and it was time for the deconstruction to take place. By late afternoon, only a few walls remained of the Mid Rivers Bar and Grill and the 12 other stores in the Centre.
CVS's site plan was approved in January of this year, giving them 12 months to start on construction of the site. CVS was expected to take ownership of the site in April. Monday's work showed that the national pharmacy was nearing the building phase and should start construction of the store soon.

Why didn't CVC pick one of the many empty commercial buildings. St. Peter's needs to give incentives to businesses to redevelop these buildings. They should also condemn and knock down those that stay empty for over a year.

If St. Peters was smart, they would have one left turn into CVS from Mexico Road that would include Oberwise and Starbucks, make it one large area instead of Oberwise and Starbucks being a island. One left turn where the entrance to the bar used to be it would save on congestion! Cause even though there is no left turn sign to enter Starbucks from Mexico people continue to do it and will cause accidents.
