Letter to the Editor: Help Needed for 'Pennies for Patriots'

St. Peters Board of Aldermen President Rocky Reitmeyer encourages people to donate as many aluminum cans as they can get in the next month.

I keep asking the residents and business to help out with the “Pennies for Patriots” Drive.

We need as many aluminum cans as we can get in the next month, and all the money raised will go to our service guys and gals coming back from Iraq, Afghanistan and leaving for Ft. Leonard Wood for training and flying to all parts of the world. The USO is the closest thing to being home as we can make it. It’s a time for them to relax or get a little sleep or get in a nice meal before they start their journey to wherever. We make them feel like they are one of our kids.

So if you see any aluminum cans please pick them up and drive them by the west side of City Hall and there will be a brown recycle can marked for “Pennies for Patriots” will be there.  ou can also stop by Recycle City north of town off of Mid Rivers Mall Dr. When you get to Recycle City there the will be a big Blue Dumpster you can put all your cans in.

We have one month to get enough cans to make $1,000 so we can reach our quota of $2500 for the USO.  The servicemen and women truly appreciate your donation and I tell them each time I work there it came from the residents of St. Peters and the people of the surrounding areas.  If you have any questions please call me at 636-485-5710.
