Man Charged with Breaking into House with 15-Year-Old at Home
He is charged with burglarizing another home in the same block.
A St. Charles County man faces burglary charges after trying to break into a house with a 15-year-old girl at home.
Tyler Sooter, 23, of the 600 block of Manor Circle Drive in St. Charles County, was charged Monday with second-degree burglary and attempted first-degree burglary in homes just south of St. Peters.
According to a St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department report, Sooter entered a home in the 700 block of Napa Lane on Monday and stole $150 in cash.
He then tried to force open a door at another house in the same block, but teenage girl was home and heard the noise. The teenager then saw Sooter trying to break into the home, said Lt. Craig McGuire, of the sheriff’s department.
“He broke a downstairs window, and when he came out, we pounced on him,” McGuire said.
According to a court document, Sooter tried to tell officials he was there to fingerprint an item in the burglary.
McGuire said more charges may be pending in the incident.
Bond was set at $40,000, cash only.
