Mid Rivers Mall Sears Survives Early Cuts

The St. Peters store is not on the list of stores closing. So far it's the Crestwood location is the only metro St. Louis store among the planned closures of Sears, Kmart and Land’s End locations nationwide.

Crestwood’s Sears store at Watson and Sappington roads is one of more than 100 stores set to close after low sales and increased expenses.

The Sears Holdings Corporation announced 70 stores officially marked for closure, including the Crestwood Sears, and plans to announce an additional 30 to 50 stores soon, according to the company.

While Sears has not yet announced how many employees will be impacted by the closure, typical stores employ between 40 and 80 people.

The only other Missouri store listed is the Grand Essentials in Lee’s Summit outside of Kansas City, according to the list.

Sears has not announced plans for the three other local Sears stores in South County Center, Chesterfield Mall and Mid Rivers Mall.
