Why would you write about this? The whole reason for having a check point is to catch the idiots that drink and drive. Why would you give people a heads up? Come on Patch get a clue!!

Wouldn't everyone just rather that people don't drive drunk, instead of catching them doing it?

Tracey, The Notification about the DWI Check Point "somewhere within the City of St. Charles" is under the direction of law enforcement to publish this information. The Patch has a clue and they work with our police department.

Hi Tracey, we receive this nformation from the police departments as Jim mentioned. We do not publish this to "give people a heads up," but rather as a reminder to think before you decide to drink and drive.

Halt! Show your identification! Prove that you are innocent!

These things are a COMPLETE waste of money. They get almost no impaired drivers off the streets. The manpower would get better results by having all of the officers OUT ON THE STREETS - stopping people who have ACTUALLY DONE SOMETHING WRONG!

These are such ineffective money-grabs - it is sickening.

"having all of the officers OUT ON THE STREETS"

That's what the police are doing! Or do you have a way to catch drunk drivers from behind a desk?

Our society's toleration of impaired driving is sickening.

I dont understand and never will, so please explain this to me. Offficers always sitting out on highways with radar guns, ridimg around looking for any sort of violators to pull over or arrest. Looking for trouble makers! Why can all sort of people sit in bars, resturants and get drunk off their ass and be able to start a car and drive off? I just dont get it!!!
