Police: Woman Assaulted Officer During DWI Arrest

A St. Louis County woman had her 6-year-old daughter in her car when she was arrested for drunk driving and assaulted a police officer, according to police.

Rachel Wilcox, 27, of unincorporated West St. Louis County was charged Thursday with driving while intoxicated.

According to Officer Melissa Doss with the St. Peters Police Department, the DWI charge and others stem from a Jan. 6 incident where Wilcox was arrested, suspected of DWI. Doss said the woman's 6-year-old daughter was in the car at the time.

Doss also tells Patch, that during the arrest Wilcox attempted to spit on one police officer, then she allegedly slapped another officer in the face in the booking area.

Authorities said Wilcox was initially pulled over after a bystander called police to report Wilcox’s vehicle swerving near the intersection of Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Cottleville Parkway.

Police said prior to pulling Wilcox over, officers also witnessed additional traffic violations.

Doss said once Wilcox's child was found in the backseat of the car, the Division of Family Services was notified. However, the child was released to another adult close to the family.

We love alcohol in the states, Our country relies on it to make alot of money. But It's legal to have bars so we can drink in. How does the cops and courts think they get home?

This woman needs some serious help. I sincerely hope she chooses to get herself off drugs and alcohol before she kills herself or someone else.
