St. Peters resident Jason W. Champion was charged on Thursday with rape and sodomy, according to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. 

Police told the Post-Dispatch that Champion, 22 of the first block  of Churchill Downs Drive in St. Peters, raped a 16-year-old girl on May 21. The alleged incident happened at an apartment of a mutual friend.

According to the Post-Dispatch, the victim told police the two weren't alone in the apartment, but Champion waited until everyone was asleep before the rape began. 

Champion was jailed Thursday in lieu of a $100,000 cash bail.
