St. Peters Man Charged with Meth Possession, Assaulting Cops
Drug Task Force members said Robert Axetell had made several pseudoephedrine purchases.
A St. Peters man was charged Thursday with possessing methamphetamine and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
Robert Axetell, 46, of the 200 block of Autumn Court in St. Peters, also faces charges of marijuana possession and resisting arrest.
Detectives with the St. Charles County Drug Task Force said they noticed several pseudoephedrine purchases under Axetell’s name, and they visited his home.
According to the drug task force report, Axetell consented to a search of his home. Detectives found a baggie with a small amount of marijuana, foils used to smoke meth, and a bag with a white powdery residue. The bag and foils field-tested positive for meth, detectives said in the report.
Axetell told detectives he traded the pseudoephedrine to his roommate for meth, the report said.
At one point, Axetell became angry, cursed at the task force members and took a fighting stance. He struck two detectives before being wrestled to the floor and handcuffed, detectives said.
Axetell was on probation after being found guilty of a 2009 assault.
