St. Peters Police Arrest Walmart Shoplifter

Police arrested 29-year-old Cassandra Lee Hargraves for allegedly stealing more than $1,500 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

A woman police sought for stealing from Walmart and assaulting an employee has been arrested. 

Cassandra Lee Hargraves, 29, of Mexico, Mo., was arrested and charged with one count of theft, a Class C felony, after police said she took $1,500 worth of merchandise from the St. Peters Walmart. 

According to St. Peters Police, Hargraves entered the Walmart store at about 3:30 a.m. on the morning of Friday, Jan. 11. Police said Hargraves selected $1,507.33 worth of merchandise from the store including electronics, DVDs, clothing and cleaing products. Police said the suspect then left the store with the merchandise in the shopping cart and made no attempt to pay for any of the items in the cart.

Police said a Walmart manager saw the suspect in the parking lot and asked to see a receipt. The request was ignored and Hargraves tried to load the items into his vehicle. The manager then attempted to detain the suspect and a wrestling match broke out. Both the manger and the suspect fell to the ground, but the suspect was able to escape, leaving only a coat behind.

All items were recovered.

Bond was set at $10,000. Hargraves was released on bond on Jan. 24.
