St. Peters Police Blotter: Social Security Number Stolen to File Taxes Fraudulently

Other items in the St. Peters Police blotter include: a stolen wallet and a misplaced cell phone.

 

The following are selected reports from the St. Peters Police Department.  The reports are for the week of April 8, 2012.

• Incident No. 8944: Identity theft, first block of Gold Run. The reporting party stated an unknown person used her mother’s social security number to file taxes fraudulently. The reporting party files the taxes on her elderly mother’s behalf. Active investigation.

• Incident No. 8955: Fraud, first block of Arrowhead Industrial -  Same as Incident No. 8584: Unknown person(s) made several orders through business using stolen credit card information. Ongoing investigation with a possible suspect.

• Incident No. 8965: Stealing, first block of Hospital. Victim’s wallet was stolen from unlocked vehicle on parking lot. Credit cards were subsequently used in the St. Charles area. Active investigation.

• Incident No. 9031: Stealing, first block of Harvester Square. Victim reported cell phone missing, but it was found at a later date.
