St. Peters Woman Wins $10,000 for Downloading Phone App

Wireless provider Sprint and technology protection services company Asurion awarded a $10,000 grand prize in the Protect To Win Sweepstakes to Karla Pudiwitr-Lyles.

A St. Peters woman is $10,000 richer after downloading an app for her phone.

Wireless provider Sprint and technology protection services company Asurion awarded a $10,000 grand prize in the Protect To Win Sweepstakes. The big winner was St. Peters resident Karla Pudiwitr-Lyles. She was recently awarded a $10,000 check at the St. Peters Sprint store.

The sweepstakes, sponsored by Asurion, ran from Aug. 6 to Nov. 6 with the goal of raising awareness among Sprint customers about the Total Equipment Protection app. The app offers customers complete protection by insuring their device against loss, theft, liquid or physical damage and protecting against mechanical or electrical failures due to defect or normal wear and tear.  Pudiwitr-Lyles found out about the sweepstakes from a SprintZone alert on her device and was automatically entered in the sweepstakes by downloading and registering the app.

Throughout the 14-week sweepstakes, 10 winners were awarded prizes each day. Customers who downloaded the Total Equipment Protection app were encouraged to rate the app. For every user rating in the GooglePlay or Blackberry World App markets during the sweepstakes, Asurion donated money to DoSomething.org, a charity devoted to empowering teens to change their communities through service and involvement. Asurion will be donating a total of $6,900 to DoSomething.org.
