Updated: Police: Teen Had 5-Foot-Tall Marijuana Plants Growing in His Room

Adam C. Flood, 17, is being charged with distributing a controlled substance and illegal use of drug paraphernalia.

A St. Charles County teenager faces a criminal drug charge for growing marijuana in his home after the St. Charles County Drug Task Force searched his home Monday.

Adam C. Flood, 17, of the first block of Charlotteridge Court in St. Charles County south of St. Peters, was charged Tuesday with intent to distribute a controlled substance and illegal use of drug paraphernalia.

Drug Task Force detectives said they found six marijuana plants growing in Flood’s bedroom and an upstairs room, along with grow lights and other cultivating material. Some of the plants were more than 5 feet tall, according to the report.

Detectives reported that Flood told them he planned to sell them for profit.

However, Flood told Patch that he did not say he intended to sell or distribute the marijuana.

"I admitted the plants were mine, but I never said I planned on distributing or selling anything—whether it was tomatoes or basil or whatever I get from those plants," Flood said.

He also did not acknowledge they were marijuana plants, he said.

Detectives also reported finding several pipes with marijuana residue.

Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.

you arrest this kid for a plant that only leads to munchies, c'mon people legalize this already. Itz not a gateway drug to other drugs itz a plant , you want to know who the real criminals are itz the people that eat bath salts, make meth, shot heroin, etc..... and your bustin balls of a plant. Wat a waste of time and money. Fight the war on criminals not a plant Legalize already and stop this nonsense. When you have a family member on their deathbed and the doctor suggest that a plant would help ease the pain hope you don't turn it down. This won't help nothing because people have it embedded in their minds that its a gateway drug the only thing that its a gateway to is the refrigerator.

No offense, man, but if people who are in favor of weed are OK with writing like this (itz, wat, "won't help nothing," etc.), then I think maaaaaybe we need to keep it under wraps.

Don't legalize. Decriminalize. Once marijuana is legal. That gives the corporations the power to take over. And take it away from the hands of the people. It's illegal to grow your own tobacco. But you can buy them at the store. But the little man doesn't get anything.

I'm sure the evidence in this case will "mysteriously" disappear from the police evidence room. Poor kid...shame on the police for busting a 17 year old year KID for something that is legal medicinally in some states. He should be praised for figuring out how to grow such large plants indoors. Legalize pot already and stop ruining bright kid's like this one's lives.

this is adam flood. i was released from st charles county today and came home to find a news report on me. and one that wasnt even accurate. i never said i planned on distributing any of the plants found in my house. so either the police lied in their report or the fox 2 news likes to embellish their stories. and the plants were 6 feet tall, at least give me the credit i deserve. would of been a good batch of medicine too. one love!

come do an interview. not one on the marijuana, but the one where st. charles county police feels its okay to lie to incriminate good decent people in order to make money for the county and climb the police chain. wheres the justice. its all about money and of course the upper middle class population of this county who run all this businesses and control everything dont mind. most prisons are privately owned, people are making profit putting people in prison. good job st charles, good job missouri, and good job america

I changed the charge in the article to "intent to distribute." It's basically all the same charge. It actually reads "Distributing/Delivering/Manufacturing/Produce Or Attempt To Or Possess W/Intent To Distribute/Deliver/Manufacture/Produce A Controlled Substance."
I'm also trying to get in touch with Adam.

I don't care what you do in your own house but when you get caught don't come on here crying about the man keeping you down. If you do something that illegal and you know it is then take your punishment like a man. I’m going to bet you got caught because one of your so called friends turned you in. The cops just don’t go around looking in windows of houses. You got caught because you messed up. You pissed off the wrong person.

Then need to legalize the plant..I rather see him growing the jane rather than meth. It helps many people in our world. I have major spinal cord damage and by time I purchase all the pharmaceutical meds that do nothing for my pain, but I am out close to a 1G a month that could have gone to food, bills of other sorts. I know if I was to have the jane in my life I would be eating more and not sleeping as much. To get rid of my pain I force myself to sleep constantly. If you smoke cigarettes your addicted to the tar and nicotine with the jane your going to relax and chill out. So tired of our government taking our free will away but if you all enjoy others telling you want to then get that 666 chip in your arm when they force it on you. Let us live our life!

Why would our system waste time busting in a very genuine man's door for making a fair living. it is not like he is raping and murdering innocent people somewhere in the city to fill his pockets with a little extra cash. Only side effects of the 'drug'-hungry, happy, sleepy-enough said. Safer than buying a round of shots for your friends at the bar, and much better on your liver. All I have to say about this situation is, get real st. charleS!

I personally would rather my tax dollars be spent finding the punks who stole all of my Target bags out of my car at Kohl's. How many of my future tax dollars will have to go to support this kid who didn't hurt anyone, because he will have a record and be unable to pass a background check for a decent job now? No winners here, nothing accomplished.... destroyed future of a young man, lots of wasted time and money, and the little &*%$# who stole my Target bags are probably still stealing. Seriously punks, wth do you want with the Aveeno facescrub that I saved coupons for and waited patiently to go on sale? You threw it all in a dumpster, didn't you?

Its a quiet neighborhood, there are kids who drive their bikes and scooters up and down the street all day long. There are also Teenagers who zip around the corner driving as fast as they can, then slam on the brakes, run inside and get stoned, then speed away. One of these days one of them is going to take that corner too hard and wipe out an eight year old.
If you only got busted with the pot then I'd say you got off easy, because they didn't find the rest of it! But don't worry, as soon as you get out of jail, your going to go right back to the same old stupid habits and every St. Charles County Police Officer who knows your name will be looking for you. Until then, hopefully the neighborhood will be a little quieter.

Hey Concerned neighbor, don't presume to know what goes on in other people's houses when there are plenty of adult with children within a block of Adam that get so drunk that they slur and speak before they think on a regular basis. And where are all the responsible teens and young adults in that same neighborhood? You don't notice us because we don't drive like lunatics. I'd also like to take a moment to grin at your attitude, the quiet, concerned neighbor who just hopes it all gets sorted out. Firstly, it means you aren't doing anything. You are sitting back and looking for an opportunity to say "I told you so." so you can keep believably calling yourself a mature adult. What you are doing is sitting on the side line making judgments about people you never took the time to know personally, and that sounds like highschool. The American system has managed to keep your attitude in highschool, congrats, you are what is wrong with the country.

Mr or Mrs Dicks,
I am whats wrong with America? your absolutely right, I'm sure it has nothing to do with unemployed dropout punks growing pot in their mothers house. But, go ahead and blame this on "police injustice" if it makes you all feel better, they will only give you so many second chances until they are forced to do something about it.

Let me try this in a different way since my last post was blocked for some unknown reason: "Who knows what goes on behind closed doors! Get used to this folks! St. Peters has allowed two tattoo parlor businesses to open and we all know what that brings to town!" The parents have been accused of not being aware of what this kid was doing but they may have been busy with their own "projects". Parents can be distracted too you know or maybe he told them it was a big "Tomato Plant"! :)

Adam
Maybe you are right, maybe I passed judgement on you without knowing you. And I cannot speak for anyone on your street, but I do know that adults who drink together X number of times a week are doing so legally. If you do not want people to know what you do in the confines of your house, then you shouldn't make it so obvious.

When I first moved/shacked up in "St. Chuck/St. Peters Mary, I was living with a woman who had a nice home in the "Golden Triangle"! She worked in Clayton, working her way up the "Corporate Ladder" with a salary in the six figures $$$$$! One morning about 1:00 A.M. after and evening of dinner and dancing we ended up at a Denny's having something coffee and something to eat. She looked around at the other customers in the place and made a remark about the "St. Charles hooshers/ trailer trash" that she saw doing the very same thing we were and had probably had been doing the same things we were doing that evening and may have lived in a place and home very similar to hers! At the time I did not give it much thought but later I realized she was "the kettle calling the pot black" Just as you have in your comment. I'll bet you "PARTY" but it may not be in your garage but you are most likely doing the same thing as everyone else in "St. Peters/St. Chuck" ! No need to be afraid of it! Just move West my friend if you do not like it here! Just move West! BTW, the woman continued to climb that corporate ladder and did move west! I found some one else and stayed in "St. Peters/St. Chuck"! We will eventually have to move West because this town is slowly turning in to a North County as the dynamic here changes but that is part of what has happened to this region for decades! How far west is far enough and won't there always be "garage parties" where ever you go? Cheers!
