Vote Now: Choose the GAC Girls Soccer Player of the Year
Help us name the fan's choice for GAC girls soccer player of the year.
All across St. Charles County fans got to witness great performances from girls soccer players. Here's what we're looking for: Who is the top GAC girls soccer player for the 2012 season?
Here are the nominees:
Lydia Meeks—St. Charles High School: The Pirates' Lydia Meeks was a top-5 offensive threat in the GAC North this season. The St. Charles High School student finished in the top-5 in points, goals and assists. Meeks netted 14 goals and picked up 12 helpers for the Pirates. Her 40 points were fifth in the conference, but her goals and assists both put her in a tie for fourth. She also added two game-winning goals for St. Charles.
Samantha Fennessey and Mackenzie Crawford—Fort Zumwalt West: The Zumwalt West soccer team went 21-5-1 this season and a big reason for the success was the play in net. The Jaguars used a two-headed monster in the goal to great success. Samantha Fennessey went 6-0-0 with a 0.61 goals against average, a shutout and a 89.4 save percentage. Mackenzie Crawford was just as good. Crawford went 15-5-1 with a 0.83 goal against average, three shutouts and a 87.3 save percentage. The duo was one-two in save percentage in the GAC South, first and fifth in goals against and was a part of a bunch of shutouts. Crawford had three on her own and Fennessey had one, but together the duo had 10 combined blankings.
Bridget Stewart—Fort Zumwalt South: No one in the GAC North scored as often as Zumwalt South' Bridget Stewart. No one in the GAC Score as many important goals, either. Stewart potted 22 goals this season to lead the Bulldogs and the GAC North. Of her 22 tallies, nine wereof the game-winning variety—the most in the conference by five goals. Her 13 assists (third-most in the conference) gave her 57 points which, again, led the league.
Taylor Wade—Fort Zumwalt South: Taylor Wade was part of a strong offensive attack from Zumwalt South. The Bulldogs compiled an 18-9-0 mark this year and scored 70 goals. An impressive 17 came off the foot of Wade. Her goal output, third in the GAC North, was just part of an impressive scoring line. Along with her 17 goals she contributed 19 assists for 53 points (second in conference). Her 19 assists led the GAC.
Remember: It's all for fun. This is simply a fan's choice award.
