Vote Now for St. Charles County Athlete of the Week

Show your school spirit by voting for your school's Patch Athlete of the Week!

It's time, once again, to pick St. Charles County's favorite athlete.

Be heard by picking our Patch Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 4.

Last week's winner: Austin Rugraff of St. Charles West High School. Coming off a Class 3 State title in the 160-pound weight class, Rugraff won the poll with a staggering 95 percent of the vote. Rugraff picked up 210 of the 221 votes cast.

The nominees this week are: (Vote for one of the following or write in your own candidate in the comments):

Sharese Jones—Francis Howell Central: Jones, a senior on the girls basketball team, ended her high school career on a high note. She netted 37 of her teams 45 points in Saturday's playoff game against Fort Zumwalt West. Jones averaged 20.4 points per game this year during her final season for the Spartans.

Lance Lehmann—Christian High School: O'Fallon's Christian High School won the Class 3, District 8 Tournament behind the strong play of many different players. Lehmann contributed at least 10 points in each of the Eagles' three wins in the tourney. In the three games he scored 45 points. Against Centralia, Lehmann scored a game-high 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting.

Lexie Moe—Fort Zumwalt West: Moe scored a team-high 15 points to help West advance to the Final Four. Moe was incredibly efficient for the Jaguars. She was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, 3-for-3 from 3-point land and missed just one shot all game long.

Trevor Tune—Duchesne: Tune scored a team-high 18 points for Duchesne in the season finale. Against Soldan, Tune was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. He also was a spark on the other end of the floor, notching five steals for the Pioneers.

MS. MALLORY, YOU ARE MAKING ALLEGATIONS AGAINST CHILDREN. HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY ARE CHEATING......THESE ARE THINGS KIDS DO AND ESPECIALLY WITH TWO RIVAL SCHOOLS THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE THEIR FRIEND STAND OUT. I THINK YOU SHOULD TEACH YOUR SON NOT TO JUDGE AND ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW THE FACTS. LET KIDS BE KIDS. LEXIE AND SHARESE CANNOT CONTROL WHAT OTHERS DO AND I BELIEVE THEY BOTH HAVE VERY BRIGHT FUTURES AND ARE CONCENTRATING ON SCHOOL. PERHAPS YOU AND YOUR CHILD NEED SOCIALIZATION SKILLS....YOU KNOW HOMESCHOOLING KEEPS YOU NARROW MINDED SOMEWHAT....NOT IN A BAD WAY BUT READ THE RESEARCH ON THAT.

Mrs Mallory,
just for your information if you read the rules for this contest, its about who gets the most votes not how you get them. So shame on Mrs. Mallory for not reading correctly, so SHAME ON YOU for holding your kids in a house for hours, not allowing them to experience a social life. SHAME ON YOU!!!!! One more thing how about you teach your children when they get older how to act like an adult, because it seems that you didn't learn that yourself. Shame on you Mrs.Mallory. god bless you, and let kids be kids. o and one more, last comment, everybody was having fun until you commented on this website, so please dismiss yourself and go teach teach teach!!!!

I am a friend of one of these athletes and you get nothing for it except bragging rights not a car, so that was a dumb comment. Personally sharese jones is the best athlete out of all these other in this contest. Wether not she wins everybody knows who owns the court!!! so go ahead and get your picture in the paper because that will be your only publicity. I support sharese all the way because she is strong and an outstanding person. GO SHARESE!!!!!

Its just about fun guys...there's multiple people trying to make their favorite athlete win...don't take life so seriously! I saw Sharese on Sat...she's great. I know Lexie and Lance personally...they're great too. Nobody on that list loses...to be included in the player of the week, they've already trained hard and proven they're all winners. Gratz to all four.

Hi folks. Patch would like to remind everyone to please be respectful of one another in the comments section. The St. Charles County Athlete of the Week poll is a friendly competition and to be nominated recognizes each athlete's success. The "winner" has the chance to answer a few questions about themselves and be featured in a story, like this one we did last week about Austin Rugraff. http://patch.com/A-rwX4

well unfortunately kalen ponche its too late for that.people in the world today, some of them only understand winning.it is obviously painful to see that this system of voting has flaws and it failed.no one should ever have thousand of points.these kids don't even know that many people.that amount of points im seeing would equal a small city.these kids don't even know they many people.they are letting their little fingers and their friends, family, teammates, and associates do the walking for them.what a shame.how about creating a system that will not let this happen again.it would not take much to conquer.i do not believe this is fair to trevor and lance.you are only a kid one time, but these kids are our future.let's teach them value, resposibility, and most of all sportsmanship!one day these kids will realize,it feels so much better to do things the right way.thnx

Perhaps Kalen Ponche will examine their system and prevent the next week contest for allowing people to vote more than once from one computer. As an IT specialist that software and prevention does exist. As for this contest, I feel The Patch Newspaper should make all four athletes "Players of the week!"

Hey Patch admin...I'm just curious...regardless of the outcome, has there ever been a vote that generated this much attention? Everybody I know is talking about this. This has got to be great publicity for your website! (Which causes hits...which generate revenue...) I think the real winner of this week's contest is Joe Barker! :)

Let you all know lexie is an amazing athlete. I go to west. She has a leadership quality that sets her apart from the rest. And she's genuine. And just because her brother can reach out to half the state doesn't mean anything. T.j. Deserves his fame at west and mizzou. Lexie is starting her own path. Love ya lex
