Woman Charged with Embezzling $232,000 from St. Peters Employer
St. Peters Police said the woman had obtained a passport, fled to Florida and emailed her resignation to the company.
An O’Fallon woman was charged Monday with stealing $232,750 from her St. Peters-based employer.
Melinda Tucker, 36, of the 1900 block of Prairie Point Drive in O’Fallon, is charged with class B felony stealing.
According to a St. Peters Police report, Tucker credited her personal credit cards with refunds from Motor Vehicle Solutions, her employer, 128 times between March 2011 and May 2012. The company is at 1278 Jungermann Road.
On May 3, the company’s credit card processor notified Motor Vehicle Solutions that they suspected fraud. The company also received an emailed resignation from Tucker that said, “I took money from the company,” police said in the report. Tucker also obtained a passport and fled to Florida, the report said.
Police also reported that the credit card refunds were done through Tucker’s unique login name and password.
