DESCRIPTION:From recycling and composting\, to alternative transportation
  and renewable energy\, people of all ages will have fun and learn the a
 dvantages of living a greener lifestyle at the Living Green Expo and fre
 e electronic recycling event at St. Charles Community College. The event
  is open to the community and will take place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturd
 ay\, June 16\, in SCC&rsquo\;s red parking lot.\nFree electronic recycli
 ng will be provided onsite by EPC (Executive Personal Computers)\, with 
 the exception of televisions and monitors for a $10 fee. No appliances\,
  such as washers\, dryers or dishwashers\, will be accepted.\nGuests wil
 l have the opportunity to view a 2012 Chevy Volt and other hybrid vehicl
 es without having to visit multiple dealerships. Family-friendly exhibit
 s such as a community recycled art project\, face painting and Segway ri
 des and EVie from the St. Louis Science Center will be on display. EVie 
 is an electric truck that includes fun ways to learn about energy basics
 \, electric vehicle technology and related environmental concerns.\nA tr
 ee planting ceremony in recognition of the college&rsquo\;s 25th anniver
 sary will kick-off the event at 10 a.m. in the SCC Campus Plaza. The cer
 emony will be about 30 minutes and will celebrate the accomplishments of
  the college and provide a glimpse into its plans for a successful\, sus
 tainable future.\nThere will be educational presentations on native land
 scaping\, green flooring options and composting/recycling. Door prizes a
 nd giveaways such as trees and tree seedlings will also be available.\nE
 xhibits and booths will include the St. Peters Recycle City\, Habitat fo
 r Humanity of St. Charles County ReStore\, Microgrid Solar\, Missouri De
 partment of Conservation\, St. Charles City-County Library District\, Sh
 aklee\, City of O&rsquo\;Fallon Stormwater Management\, Cuivre River Ele
 ctric Cooperative\, The Missouri Botanical Gardens EarthWays Center\, Am
 eren Missouri Pure Power\, Henges Interiors\, as well as groups from SCC
 \, including the SCC Foundation and Alumni Department\, Outdoors Club/Gr
 een Club\, Team Green and 25th Anniversary Committee.\nThe Living Green 
 Expo will be held on the red parking lot at SCC\, where the parking lot 
 itself includes environmentally friendly features\, such as permeable pa
 vers\, which filter storm water run-off into the ground. The lot also ha
 s solar lighting and is surrounded by more than 500 native trees and pla
 nts to absorb run-off rainwater.\nExpo sponsors include General Motors a
