In all, Emmis staff sorted, packaged, and labeled 34,848 pounds of food that will be sent to area food pantries, providing 28,447 meals for the hungry.

“It was an amazing experience,” said John Beck, senior vice president and general managers of Emmis Radio – St. Louis. “It’s unacceptable that there is so much hunger in a community like St. Louis. Hopefully our efforts will help to make a difference for those in need.”

“We need more organizations like Emmis that are willing to come out and help,” said Frank Finnegan, president and CEO of the Foodbank. “One of every eight people in our region is in need of food assistance and we process more than 25 million pounds of food each year. We couldn’t do this without the support of volunteers like those from Emmis.”

In addition to Beck, the Emmis team included radio personalities John Ulett, Favazz, Mark Klose, Lauren “Lern” Colvin, Drew Johnson and Mike Duran.
