American Pit Bull/Terrier Mix Gets A Second Chance

Looking to add something four-footed and furry to your family? Heartland Humane Society and Five Acres Animal Shelter have lots of dogs and cats just waiting for a forever home like yours.

April is a 2-year-old, 45-pound American Pit Bull Terrier Mix, picked up by animal control in a very rural area. April literally had no time left when Heartland came to visit her and, had they left the shelter without her, she would have been euthanized immediate afterwards. April has the typical energy of dogs of her type, so needs plenty of exercise. She will reward you for walks or playtime by showing you her tricks. She knows “sit,” “down,” “shake’” and “stay.” April is selective about other dogs as friends, so would be happy as an only dog in a cat-free household, although a submissive dog who would tolerate April’s energy might work after a proper introduction. April is crate and house trained. She is UTD on all her vaccines, spayed, microchipped and on flea and heartworm preventative.

About The Heartland Humane Society of Missouri

The Heartland Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit group of dedicated foster homes that gives abandoned, abused, and unwanted animals another chance for loving, permanent homes through our adoption program, following the no-kill philosophy. We reduce pet overpopulation in our community through collaboration with veterinarians, animal welfare organizations, and supportive individuals and organizations by providing affordable spay/neuter procedures and humane education. Heartland Humane Society of Missouri is funded by adoption fees, donations, fundraising events, grants and tributes.

Julius is a 5-year-old, male, beige tabby cat. His personality is quiet and laid back. He came to Five Acres through a local animal control agency. He enjoys relaxing on top of a cat tree surveying his world around him. He also has a playful side and loves to play with toys that are attached to a wand or stick. Julius needs someone to give him the love he is so deserving of. Julius and all his friends can be seen at the shelter daily from 2 to 6 p.m.

, a 10-year-old cat looking for a quiet home, is still available.
