Becky's Carpet and Tile Closing St. Peters Store

The St. Peters store is closing along with all other St. Louis-area stores.

 is closing all area stores, including the one in .

The carpet and tile stores, known for its  featuring owner Queen of Carpet Becky Rothman riding a carpet through St. Louis, announced Tuesday that it would be  shutting the doors of all their stores .

KMOX reports  that roughly 30 employees will be out of work.

The slagging economy is being blamed for the St. Peters, and other, stores closing. In an interview with the  St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Rothman said it's been tough to stay afloat with the housing market having slowed down. 

According to the Post-Dispatch , the Queen of carpet's Rothman Properties is delinquent in paying more than $150,000 in property taxes from 2011 at four of its stores.

Rothman said she would fulfill current orders or provide refunds. A note left on the door of the empty St. Peters store advised customers to call 314-447-3200 for more information.
