GFS Marketplace Looks to Hire 35 People for St. Peters Store

GFS Marketplace is expected to open in St. Peters this fall.

GFS Marketplace, a food-service grocery store, is expected to open in St. Peters in October and is currently hiring staff members.
Construction on GFS Marketplace began earlier this year. The 15,856 square foot store is being built next to Red Robin on Mid Rivers Mall Drive, west of Mexico Road.
The store will employ about 35 people and is currently hiring sales associates, shift leaders and sales representatives.
GFS Marketplace stores are built around the food service industry, said company spokesman Mark Dempsey.
Gordon Food Service is primarily a food-service distributor but also has 160 marketplace stores which offer restaurants a place to stock up on products in between deliveries.
The marketplace will offer bulk food options for restaurants, caterers, nonprofits and the public without membership fees.
The company has opened 9 stores recently with another 8 expected to open by the end of the year, Dempsey said.
The St. Peters location will be the third to open in the St. Louis area this year. The Fairview Heights, IL store opened in June and the Maplewood store is expected to open Sept. 15.
