Legal Service Provides Education, Protection for Clients

A national prepaid legal service helps clients with issues such as identity theft protection and assists with will creation.

Legal Shield is a national pre-paid legal service company with 40 years of experience. For one low monthly fee, members gain access to legal service for issues that need legal attention, from the trivial to traumatic, according to independent associate Alice Vierck.

Members can get advice about credit, identity protection and gain knowledge about their lawful rights. Vierck sums up the importance of being educated on rights in a simple philosophy: a lack of knowledge is as good as forfeiting liberties.

“If you don’t know what your rights are, you don’t have any,” said Vierck.

Vierck also said the service helps clients to make better decisions, including the ability of having an attorney review documents and contracts before Legal Shield patrons sign them. Other benefits to membership include creating wills, including a living will, and 24-hour emergency service for situations, such as a car accident.

“I like to think of it as Legal Shield puts a shield of protection around you and your family,” said Vierck.

In addition, clients receive 25 percent off from services not covered by the membership, such as a divorce.

Vierck has been an independent associate for five years. Before she worked with Legal Shield, Vierck worked in real estate sales and office administration. As fate would have it, she got into the business after she had a situation that called for legal services and struggled with the high costs associated with legal fees.

“When I heard about this service, my first thought was, ‘Where was this when I needed it?’ and that gave me the impetus to do this" she said. "I want to get it to people before they need it."

Vierck said also there are services available for businesses, by helping small business owners understand their legal rights, as well providing support with debt collection needs.

“I call it a big business plan for the small business owner, small businesses don’t typically have an HR department or a legal department, this is their resource to get help,” she said of the option.

Additionally, one other area Legal Shield delivers assistance to patrons is with identity theft. Expanding technology and other factors have made this form of stealing prevalent. Unfortunately, victims of stolen identity can find that recovering their good name, credit and reputation can prove difficult for an individual to take on themselves.

“Identity theft is such a growing problem, and most people don’t have the money, resources or time to do it themselves,” she said of the issue.

“A professional steals your identity and it takes a professional to clear it up,” said Vierck.
