Menards Prepares for Grand Opening Celebration

The Grand Opening events will begin on Saturday, April 20 and run through Sunday, April 28.

Menards in St. Peters has been open for more than a week and the store is now planning a nine-day grand opening celebration. 

The Grand Opening events will begin on Saturday, April 20 and run through Sunday, April 28.

John Gage, Chainsaw Carver: Wednesday, April 24 to Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Chainsaw artist John Gage makes wood carvings from simple logs. Gage’s carvings will be available for public sale.

Jackie Slater, former St. Louis Rams Offensive Tackle: Monday, April 22 from 6 p.m. 8 p.m. NFL Hall of Famer Jackie Slater will sign two free autographs. Slater was offensive tackle for the Rams organization, playing 19 years in Los Angeles and his final season in St. Louis. Slater was a five-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl selection and named NFL Man of the Year in his final season in 1995. The first NFL player to play 20 seasons with the same team, Slater had his  No. 78 jersey retired by the Rams and was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. 

Lee Smith, former St. Louis Cardinals Pitcher: Tuesday, April 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A seven-time All Star, Lee Smith is widely recognized as one of the greatest relief pitchers in baseball history. An 18-year veteran, Lee Smith played four seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals including 1991 when he set the National League saves records with 47 and finished runner-up for the Cy Young Award.

David Eckstein, former St. Louis Cardinals Shortstop: Wednesday, April 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A first team All-American in 1996 at the University of Florida, David Eckstein went on to Major League Baseball career. Eckstein played a key role in the Anaheim Angels 2002 World Series title and was named World Series MVP after leading the St. Louis Cardinals to the 2006 championship. 

Paul Menard’s 2011 Indy Brickyard winning No. 27 car and Matt Crafton’s No. 88 Truck will be on site from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 24 and April 25.

Richard Childress, RCR Team Owner, and Frank Kimmel, ARCA Series Driver, will make appearances on Thursday, April 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Richard Childress is a well-known auto-racing owner and  owns teams in all levels of racing. He serves as Paul Menard’s team owner.  Kimmel has 76 career wins and is a nine-time champion in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. In 2013, Kimmel has scored top fives in both of his races and leads the series in total points.
