St. Peters Menards Picks April 9 for Opening Day

The new Menards will be the first in store in the St. Louis area to open.

When Menards first came to St. Peters to begin the process of opening a store, the store targeted a spring 2013 opening. Menards made it official that the store would open on time.

The new hardware store on Spencer Road is set to open bright and early at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9. Menards will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday to Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

The St. Peters store is the first Menards store to open on the Missouri side of the Mississippi River in the St. Louis area. The other store in the region, in O'Fallon, Ill., will open the same day.

The new home improvement store will have a full-service lumberyard, a garden center and will offer window, door, lighting, plumbing, flooring, paint, landscape blocks, brand appliances, pet products, tools and convenience groceries.

“We’re pleased that we were able to build a new Menards store at this location in St. Peters and will do our best to work hard each and every day to provide a great shopping experience for our customers," said Ryan Gawinski, St. Peters, Menards General Manager in a press release. 'We want to make a real positive impression on everyone starting Tuesday.”

The national chain has five Missouri stores located two to three hours from St. Louis and six Illinois stores located about two hours away.

"These stores were seeing more and more business from St. Louis-area zip codes, therefore we wanted to provide more access and better shopping convenience for the good folks of the St. Louis-metro area,” Abbott said in an email.

I just want to say "thanks" to all the people who blocked Walmart from going in at this location. With a Lowe's and Home Depot within a mile of my house, what I really needed was a Menard's right next to me. One can never have too many home-improvement stores inside of a 1 mile radius.

I am THRILLED that Menards is coming to town. We have shopped there for many years when we lived in Iowa. The prices are so much better than Lowe's or Home Depot.

Live right down the street and am ecstatic about it!! Love that it created so many jobs in my community too! I dont know if the guy above me was being sarcastic, but I am SO GLAD they DID NOT put in a Walmart here, yuk!

Interesting that the St. Peters Senior Advisory Commission was excluded from the Grand Opening V I P event on April 8th. Seems that the big box stores are truly interested in the local government participation until all the approvals and inspections are completed but once the store is up and ready to run then they forget about the little guys.

I lived in northern Illinois and shopped at Menards every day when I was in home maintenance. They have great prices and service. I am glad to see them here now. Watch out Lowes and Home Depot, Menards is here! Walmart is too prevalent in all neighborhoods.

You are very welcome Jay! The more HIS the better! Competition lowers prices, right?

Ed, I hope you were not caught of guard by this snub! As a Senior Citizen, we all know how these things work.

Central Hardware was nhere for along time, then came Lowes ans Home Depot, now Menards.which one will go out next? Rob

Home Depot is on the chopping block! Walk in to any of their stores and you will find clumps of "associates" standing around with their hands in their pockets with a smattering of a few customers window shopping! Shades of the death nell of the Central Hardwares!

Try looking at the quality of products compared to Home Depot. They lost over $100,000.00 of my business last yr due to inferior product and lack of compentency from sales associates and the store manager. If they went out of business it would not hurt my feelings. Lowes has not gained my business and a big portion will be going to Menards. DO NOT KNOCK THE STORE UNTIL YOU HAVE SHOPPED AND COMARED PRICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wherees is this store located at?! I heard alot about it but dont know the address
Joe Barker April 27, 2013 at 05:41 PM
St. Peters—151 Spencer Road. It's basically at the intersection of Mexico and Spencer Roads, located just behind the McDonalds.

Their prices only seem lower because everything has a mail in rebate and they advertise the price after the rebate discount. Who's going to mail in multiple rebates on every shopping trip? Also, the volume of products doesn't matter if they don't have the one thing you actually need. Both items I went in for that were prominently advertised in their mailer were out of stock when I got there and I was told they would not be replenished.
