“Holiday Weight Gain a Myth” Says Trainer & Author

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

November marks the beginning of the Holiday Fitness Fix – a health challenge sponsored by Main Street Gym, St. Charles. According to St. Charles author and personal trainer Karen Fili Sullivan, it’s a myth that people believe they will put on weight during the holiday season.

“You can control holiday weight gain while you still enjoy the season.” says Sullivan. “A year ago I was saddened hear a woman openly admit she planned to eat her way through the Holiday Season.”

Sullivan has designed a campaign to help people maintain their weight over the holiday season. Coming off an east coast book tour, Sullivan sees the writing on the wall. It isn’t about losing weight this time of year; it’s about how you can keep from gaining more.

Sullivan said recently on an interview on Blogtalkradio.com show “Alive to Thrive with Brenda Fraser” that there is no proof that weight gain is the norm. “A few years ago the National Institutes of Health monitored 200 participants throughout this time and found the average weight gain was less than a pound. Regardless of this study, people throw in the towel and eat in excess,” she said.

The Holiday Fitness Fix is open to anyone who wants to join in on the fun and win  prizes for participating in the 8-week program. The final award is a free Health Coaching session with Karen Fili Sullivan, plus other gifts from area businesses. “We have people from all across the country entering on Facebook and communicating through the internet.” The contest ends December 31.

“Why not be part of a program where you earn positive feedback and feel good about making healthy food choices?” Sullivan queries. Sign up at http://karenfilisullivan.com by entering your email address and on Facebook at ZWL – The Zen of Whole Living.
