Excessive Heat Cancels Interstate 70 Bridge Repairs

Repairs planned for the weekend of June 29 on the Interstate 70 bridge over Earth City have been called off because of soaring temperatures.

It's too hot to do much of anything, and that includes road work.

The Missouri Department of Transportation had and other work  to the Interstate 70 bridge over Earth City Expressway beginning Friday, June 29 and continuing until July 1. That work has now been called off with into the triple digits. MoDOT said the 100+ degree forecasts were a danger to the workers due to long shifts and the physical nature of the work.

The work was part of a three-weekend shutdown to repair the bridge. Weekend one has been completed, but two weekends are still needed to finish the project. Work is currently planned for the weekend of July 20 to July 22. More details to come on when the other weekend will be scheduled.
