Lane Closures Scheduled on Eastbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge

One lane will be closed weekdays for possibly the next three weeks.

commuters who travel Interstate 70 should be advised: Road work is coming.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will have one eastbound lane closed on Interstate 70 on the Blanchette Bridge over the Missouri River. The closure starts this week and will continue for the next two weeks.

The work will begin on July 5 and 6 when crews will close the inside lane of eastbound I-70 just after the Blanchette Bridge. The closures will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to work in the median preparing for the future construction crossover in the median of I-70.

The westbound I-70 in early November 2012 for approximately one year. The construction of the crossover will enable westbound traffic to get to the eastbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge. During the one-year closure, all traffic will be forced to use the eastbound bridge with three lanes running in each direction.

Following the work, the bridge will close for its bi-annual inspection. The inspection will take place on July 9 to July 12, and possibly the week of July 16 to July 19. One lane on the eastbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge for the inspection.

The lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  This routine inspection is being performed now so traffic interruptions will not be necessary when I-70 traffic is utilizing the bridge during the westbound Blanchette work.
