will be faced with major road work this weekend.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has plans on Saturday, July 21, to close four of the five eastbound Interstate 70 lanes, weather permitting. The lane closures will limit traffic on eastbound I-70 to just one lane.
The lane shutdowns will take place in St. Peters between Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Route 370. MoDOT plans to start the closures at 9 p.m. on Saturday night. The lanes will open at 10 a.m.
The lucky lane to be left open will be the far left lane, however motorists won't have access Route 370. There will also be occasional 10 to 15 minute full closures overnight.
In addition to the lane closures, the following ramps will also be closed:
- The southbound ramp to eastbound I-70 will be closed.
- The eastbound I-70 entrance ramp from Veterans Memorial Parkway will be closed. Motorists can continue eastbound on Veterans Memorial Parkway and access I-70 at the Cave Springs interchange.
The reason for the work is to allow MoDOT crews to remove and replace overhead signs on eastbound I-70 and redo some striping.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
