More Than 1,000 Without Power in St. Peters

Wednesday's storms roared through the St. Peters region and left many without power.

According to Ameren's outage map, more than 1,000 people are without power in the 63376 area code. At 9:40 p.m. the total number of residents reporting power outages was 1,056.

The storms came through early in the evening with high winds. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports wind gusts of up 60 miles per hour were reported at Mid Rivers Mall. 

While St. Peters appears to have escaped serious damage, the same can't be said for Hazelwood. Authorities have confirmed a tornado in Hazelwood on Wednesday evening and officials are just now assessing the damage.
