Patch Essay Contest Wants to Solutions for Paying Big College Bills

St. Peters Patch, PatchU and the HuffPost College Channel want to hear how college students are making the math work when it comes to paying for college.

For many students, figuring out how to pay for college is like a full time job or a really tough class you just can’t seem to get your head around. Still, some people have a knack for finding the right formula or a creative approach to the funding fix.

PatchU and HuffPost College want to hear these success stories. To that end, we announce the “How Are You Paying For College?” contest. Basically, you need to interview one person and write a profile based on the answer to that one question. The more creative the person’s plan is, the better! Then, present your profile in a well-crafted essay and follow these submission rules and requirements:

  • Name and email address of submitter
  • School attending
  • Name of the person you are profiling
  • Paragraph description of the person’s background
  • Description of how the person is paying for college
  • 1-3 photos of the person (.jpeg format)
  • Profile/essay should be written in English, 500 to 700 words; explain who this person is and provide details about how he or she is paying for college.
  • Send your essay and photos to patchusubs@patch.com as a .doc attachment by April 22, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

The contest is open to current undergraduate and graduate students of PatchU Network schools. Students who have graduated within the last six months also welcome. If your school is not part of the PatchU Network, it can join! site to find out how.
