At the , the Aldermen agreed to fund the project with money from the Natatorium Foundation. The Foundation is the self-sustaining fund established for the maintenance of the Natatorium. The Foundation started with $2 million in funds, has spent $2 million and still has $2 million.

To replace the filter, the city has to shut down the 50-meter pool. Filtration will need to be stopped for this project, which means the pool will not be able to open to the public due to safety standards.
