Route 66 Video Earns St. Peters Man Free Gas
Richard Dinkela, of St. Peters, won a year of free gas for his video about his passion for Route 66.
Of all people in St. Charles County to win free gas for a year, Richard Dinkela probably needs it the most.
Every year, the Route 66 enthusiast drives what he calls “America’s main street filled with adventure and history” to witness and publicize the beauty and mystery of the historic highway.
Dinkela made a video about his passion for Route 66 for the Phillips 66 Local Legends contest and won third place, earning him free gas for a year.

Dinkela maps segments of Route 66 on GPS and marks areas with painted signs for travelers. In his video, he shows several pictures of the places and people that make Route 66 so important for him.
“Route 66 offers a dream to many experiencing Americana first hand,” he said in the video.
