Snow Causes Major Delays for St. Peters Commuters

Thursday's winter storm dropped several inches of snow and sleet on the St. Peters-area, which meant some drivers were stuck on the highways for hours.

Nine miles in 40 minutes. 

That's the situation some St. Peters-area residents found themselves in driving home during Thursday's snow storm. 

Thursday's winter storm dropped several inches of snow and sleet on nearby highways and interstates, which wreaked havoc on folks looking to get home early from work.

Many of St. Louis' major highways were at a standstill for most of Thursday afternoon. Trapped in that gridlock were a few St. Peters residents. 

"(Took me) 40 minutes to go nine miles from St. Charles to St. Peters," said Ginny Wilson, a St. Peters Patch Facebook page fan.

Wilson said she took the outer road all the way from Fifth Street in St. Charles to the Cave Springs exit in St. Peters.

Others had similar issues.

"It took almost an hour from Westport Plaza to Muegge on 364 at noon," said Katherine Gunn. "Cars were stuck before te bridge and past the bridge."
