  • A Wisconsin man is accused of sexually touching his granddaughter, who lives in St. Peters. Michael Herbert, 62, of Plover, WI, was charged Feb. 28 by the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with first-degree statutory sodomy and first-degree child molestation.

St. Peters Laser Center Owner Indicted On Seven Counts of Sexual Assault

  • The owner of the Cosmetic Laser Center in St. Peters was indicted by a St. Charles County grand jury Friday on seven counts of deviate sexual assault. Lawrence Branam, 48, of the 1400 block of Norwood Hills Drive in O’Fallon, owned theCosmetic Laser Center at 7030 Mexico Road and was a licensed laser hair removal technician.

Circle K Plans to Reopen Fire-Gutted Gas Station

  • Circle K plans to reopen its gas station at 6105 Mexico Road after a fire destroyed the St. Peters station on Jan. 14. The fire started in a stock room in the back of the store after a furnace, which hung from the ceiling, heated up some combustible materials that had been stacked up very close to the heater. 

St. Peters Rotary Dog Park to Offer Lakeside Play

  • St. Peters Parks and Recreation plans to spend $115,000 to build a dog park at Lakeside 370 Park in 2013 and 2014. The St. Peters Rotary Dog Park will have two sections: a one-acre piece for small dogs and a two-acre area for larger dogs, both of which will be fenced in.

New Archery Range to Open in Spring 2013

  • A new archery range is expected to open atLakeside 370 Park in late spring. The range is expected to be built on the east end of the park in between the levee and a trail leading to the Sanford Levee, said Vicki Phillips, director of park operations. The range will have 13 ground-level archer positions with targets between 10 yards and 70 yards—a distance rarely found in other public archery ranges.
