Construction on Final Phase of Page Avenue Extension to Start this Summer

  • The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission on Wednesday awarded a contract to complete construction on the Highway 364 Page Avenue Extension project. The $118.2 million project was awarded to Page Constructors LLC, a team comprising Fred Weber Inc., Millstone Bangert Inc., and Kolb Grading. It's expected to be completed by Oct. 31, 2014.

Update: Police Searching for O’Fallon Murder Defendant

  • Police still are searching for a man charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Tuesday’s shooting death of Dorothy Hall, 55. Terry Culberson, 63, of the first block of Downing Street in O’Fallon, was charged by St. Charles County Prosecutor’s Office with the crimes Wednesday.

Hobo's Plans to Open Second Location in Former Ozella's Pizzeria

  • A St. Peters restaurant and bar is planning to open a second location in O'Fallon. Hobo’s Restaurant at the Tap, is located at the St. Peters American Legion at 200 Main St. The popular St. Peters establishment offers typical bar fare in addition to frog legs, catfish and fried chicken. Happy hour is from 3- 5 p.m. on Monday-Friday and the bar features live music every Saturday night.

Final Sentencing in Tee Kay Babysitters 'Horrific' Child Abuse Case

  • The judge set the final sentence yesterday in a case that was described by law enforcement officials as "the most horrific" child abuse case they'd ever seen, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

St. Charles

  • St. Charles Police are investigating an assualt atSt. Charles West High School, where a group of people not associated with the school entered the premises during dismissal time to start a fight on Friday. According to a city release, the fight occurred and two St. Charles School District employees were assaulted while attemting to de-escelate the fight. 
  • A couple in a domestic dispute also were cooking methamphetamine in their St. Charles motel room on Sunday, St. Charles Police said. James Carver, 34, of the 400 block of South Cadillac in St. Charles, and Marijon Dawn Ludwig, 34, each were charged Monday with accessory to manufacturing a controlled substance within 2,000 feet of a school and producing a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

St. Charles Police Department Reorganizes

  • In January, the St. Charles Police Departmentgot a new police chief and underwent a major reorganization. The department has moved back to a single-district structure and away from a two-district organization in which the city was split into two areas. The two-district structure was first implemented under former Police Chief Dennis Corley in 2007. 

Environmentally Conscious Prasino Plans April Grand Opening

  • An environmentally friendly restaurant announced plans to open at the Streets of St. Charles Development in April. Prasino, which is Greek for "green", plans to expand to its first location in the St. Louis area and third overall this spring. The restaurant focuses on locally-sourced ingredients and uses organic, all-natural, steroid and hormone free foods, according to a press release. 

St. Peters

MoDOT Reveals Plans for Interchange Reconstruction at I-70 and Mid Rivers Mall

  • A plan two years in the making to alleviate congestion at Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Interstate 70 should begin work as soon as next month. The Missouri Department of Transportation hosted an open house at St. Peters City Hall recently to introduce the public to plans to reconfigured the heavily-trafficked interchange. Plans for a new diverging diamond interchange were unveiled and explained to the public in attendance.
  • A St. Charles man faces assault charges for spitting on and attempting to punch a St. Peters police officer Sunday. Kyle Friesenhahn, 25, of the 1000 block of Pine Street in St. Charles, was charged Wednesday with assaulting a law enforcement officer.

Blockbuster in St. Peters to Close in March

  • Dish Network Corp, which owns Blockbuster, plans to close nine stores in the St. Louis area this spring, including one in St. Peters. The St. Peters Blockbuster, located at Jungermann and Wilott Road, will close March 24. The closures are part of an announced plan to close 300 stores across the country.

  • After three years in Florissant, Trish Layton moved her boutique to 1522 Caulks Hill Road in St. Peters to accommodate her growing business.

Wentzville

Sleeping Wentzville Man Is Victim of Sexual Act in Josephville

  • A Foristell man faces a criminal charge for performing a sex act on another man as he slept Sunday. Nathaniel Dickherber, 23, of the 10200 block of Forest Trails in Foristell, was charged Friday with deviate sexual assault on a Wentzville man. 

Second Novel by Lake Saint Louis Police Co-Authors is on Shelves Today

  • Lake Saint Louis Police Chief Michael Force and Assistant Chief Chris Digiuseppi have followed their successful first novel, The Light Bringer, with a second installment in the series. This newest book, The Fallen, hits store shelves today, Feb. 5.
  • On Wednesday night, the Wentzville Board of Aldermen reversed an earlier decision to not allow RVs to camp at Rotary Park during the Renaissance Faire. The board had banned RVs after an incident during last year's event when sewage from an RV was found dumped on the lower field where Renaissance Faire merchants and performers park their RVs for a maximum of six weeks during the event.

Wentzville Business Owners Talk about Sign Issues at Board Work Session

  • Human signs, balloons, banners—these and other types of temporary advertising tools were a topic of discussion at Wednesday night's Wentzville Board of Aldermen meeting. The topic had come up at a previous meeting when the owner of Liberty Tax Service told the board that his Liberty Statue character would still wave at cars along Wentzville Boulevard even after he was told that it was not allowed.
