Young National Skate Champion to Perform at Great Skate

National
Skate Champion will perform at Great Skate!

Ten year old, Annie Mackay, National Champion
Skater will be at Great Skate on Saturday, April 19.  She will give a demonstration performance of
one of her championship routines. This performance is open to all at no cost
and will be held between our Skate Lesson time and our Open Skate time at
approximately 9:50am.

Annie Mackay and her coach Sharon Behrendt will visit from Portland, Oregon
April 16 through April 19.  Coach
Behrendt will be giving private lessons to some of Great Skate’s Artistic Club
skaters.  In addition, Annie Mackay will
work with the younger club members in a small group.  Annie’s time will focus primarily on helping
them to build confidence, skill and improve technique.

Great Skate Artistic Skate Club Coach, Bernie Gilliam said,
“We are privileged to have them both come down and work with our club.”  Referring to Annie Mackay, he said “Just
being around someone of her young age and caliber will encourage our younger
club members in their own skate competitions.”
We hope the opportunity to see a young champion skate on Saturday, will
encourage other young skaters as well.
