St Charles Democratic Alliance

Since 1910, when the first initiative graced a Missouri ballot, seventy-five ballot initiatives have appeared on the Missouri ballot. 29 have passed, and 46 have failed, for a pass-fail ratio of 38.6%.

From the mid 1970’s on, there was a huge increase in ballot measures in Missouri including one from MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) in July 1999, asking voters in
Missouri and 15 other states to officially proclaim 2000 as the Year of UFO Awareness and to demand open Congressional hearings.

Designed as a method for citizens to be able to offer legislation, in recent years ballot measures have taken on a more partisan and at times personal needs or desires initiatives.  It’s up to us, as informed citizens to determine just how these measures will work, or not workfor We, the People.

In order to keep you better informed on proposed ballot measures, a representative from Your Vote Counts will be joining us at Rendezvous Café and Wine Bar on
Wednesday, July 13th at 7 PM to discuss their proposed measure to change the manner in which the Missouri Legislature could change citizen passed ballot
initiatives.  This is a very important proposal and one which could well change the political power of Missouri.
