The Zonta Club of St. Charles announces the keynote speaker for the 2011 Yellow Rose Award celebration will be Stacy Malkan, co-founder of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and author of the award-winning book, “Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry.”
Ms. Malkan is nationally known for her remarkable work to create awareness about the toxic chemicals in personal care products. She has worked tirelessly at the national forefront to inform legislators, and the public, about the dangers posed to women and children. Ms. Malkan’s organization, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is part of the Breast Cancer Fund in San Francisco.
Event emcee will be Debbie Monterrey, KMOX co-host of “Total Information AM.” The purpose of the Yellow Rose event is to raise funds for the Zonta Club’s service projects and scholarship fund, including a scholarship established at St. Charles Community College. It is also for the purpose of presenting the annual Yellow Rose Award to a professional woman who exemplifies the values and mission of Zonta international, namely professional achievement and dedication to the advancement of the status of women.
