Dewey's Gourmet Pizzas Offer a Great Escape

For date night or lunch with the girls, Dewey's Pizza offers delicious gourmet pizzas that will satisfy any taste.

The kids were at school, the laundry was started, and last night’s dishes had been unloaded from the dishwasher.

The man with the wind-swept hair and bulging muscles rounded the corner into the kitchen and swept me into his arms. He dipped me, passionately brought his lips to mine, and whispered, “Let me take you away from all of this.”

Okay, maybe it didn’t happen exactly like that.

The husband did find a time in his busy work schedule to pencil me in for a lunch date. He’s in full-blown make-up mode after a Valentine’s Day that included sick kids, broken dinner plans, and Russell Stover chocolates. (And gentlemen, I don’t care if your lady swears she wants nothing for Valentine’s Day, that it’s a holiday made up by the card companies to make a buck—for the love of your relationship, come up with something good!)

First stop on the redemption express: the lunch date.

We decided to venture out to Ellisville and hit Dewey’s Pizza, our favorite pizza place. The gourmet pizza (pine nuts!) and grown-up atmosphere (micro brews on tap!) allow us to enjoy the food and each other.

During the 20 minute drive, we talked and listened to our music—Justin Bieber was banned from the playlist. Once we got to Dewey’s and were seated in a private booth, we ordered our pizza. MJ ordered his favorite for his half: The Bronx Bomber. MJ loves a traditional meaty pizza, so the pepperoni, sausage, and veggie combination was right up his alley. I decided to be a little more adventurous and try the Southwest BBQ Chicken for my half. I was a little nervous when I saw one of the toppings was black bean salsa, but once I took my first bite, I was in heaven.

MJ and I splurged and ordered a dessert to share: a chocolate torte. Enough chocolate to keep this chocoholic happy, but not too rich for MJ, it was the perfect way to end the meal. Plus, there’s something so intimate and lovely about one dessert with two forks.

With all the travel MJ has been doing lately, dates have been few and far between. It’s so nice to be able to go out with my husband. I love him and it’s nice to be reminded why I also really like him.
