Aebischer Sworn in as Newest St. Peters Police Officer

John R. Aebischer took the oath of office during a recent Board of Aldermen meeting.

St. Peters Police  Chief Tom Bishop introduced the newest member of the department during Sept. 27 Board of Aldermen meeting.

John R. Aebischer took the oath of office at the meeting to officially join the department. 

Aebischer started his career in St. Peters  in 2010, but not as a police officer. Instead he worked as a Park Ranger in the parks department for the city.

During Aebischer's introduction to the city, Bishop mentioned that Aebischer comes from a law enforcement family. His father Donald, who pinned the badge on Aebischer, was a Lieutenant with the Madison County Illinois Sheriff's Department and his grandfather John was with the Illinois State Police. 

Aebischer graduated from the Eastern Missouri Police Academy in July 2010. He earned his associates degree from Southeast Illinois College in 2003. He is currently enrolled in Columbia College working toward a degree in criminal justice.

Aebischer is married to his wife, Jessica. The couple has one son, Chase.
