Man Hid Meth-Lab Backpacks Near Dumpster After Car Crash, Police Say

Man told St. Peters Police he's homeless and addicted to meth after being charged with manufacturing a controlled substance. Police say he hid two portable meth labs near a dumpster following a car crash on Mid Rivers Mall Drive.

A man in an auto accident on Mid Rivers Mall Drive tried to hide two meth labs in his car near a dumpster, according to St. Peters Police.

Edmond Andersen, 43, whose last known address was in the 2300 block of Kingsford Drive in North St. Louis County, was charged Monday with manufacturing a controlled substance.

St. Peters Police said witnesses saw Andersen run from the scene with two backpacks and attempted to hide them in a nearby dumpster. He then returned to the scene of the accident near Mid Rivers Mall.

Officers found the backpacks, which they said contained two one-pot meth labs and chemicals needed to make methamphetamine.

Andersen told police he’s homeless and addicted to meth.

He is being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $25,000.
