Update: Charges Levied Against Fugitive Who Led Police on High-Speed Pursuit

The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued felony warrants on Robert Liszewski after he was involved in a multijurisdictional vehicle and foot pursuit and assault on a law enforcement officer on Thursday afternoon.

Liszewski was charged with Assault 2nd on Law Enforcement Officer (Class B Felony) and Felony Resisting Arrest (Class D Felony). He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond at St. Charles County Correctional Facility.

Robert Liszewski is in custody after leading police on a high-speed chase.

The  and St. Charles County Drug Task Force attempted to arrest Liszewski on multiple warrants on the  parking lot, located at 5555 Veterans Memorial Parkway at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

Liszewski, a 42-year-old white male from Bellefontaine Neighbors, has numerous active warrants through St. Charles County. He wanted by police for:

• Possession of a controlled substance
• Possession of a chemical with the intent to create a controlled substance
• Distribution/delivery/manufacturing of a controlled substance
• He is also currently wanted on a parole violation.

St. Peters Police Department and the St. Charles County Drug Task Force attempted to apprehend Liszewski while he was seated in his vehicle on the Extended Stay parking lot. During the attempt, Liszewski drove his car and attempted to run over an officer. St. Peters Police Media Relations Officer Melissa Doss said the officer, fearing for his safety, fired one round into the vehicle. 

Following the shot, Liszewski fled the parking lot in his vehicle and began to lead officers on a pursuit on eastbound Highway 70. He took officers into Illinois, but then came back into Missouri. Once he reached the Riverview area, he abandoned his vehicle. Liszewski was apprehended at approximately 7 p.m. and will be transported to St. Charles County Correctional Facility.

Doss said the investigation of the incident has not been completed, and St. Peters Police do not have any more details of the shooting to release at this time. No officers were injured and it is unknown at this time if suspect was injured.
