Man Choked Girlfriend, Wouldn't Let Her Use Phone, Police Say

Police said the St. Peters man also pinned the woman down on a couch and against a wall in the kitchen.

A man faces criminal charges after St. Peters Police said he assaulted his girlfriend Friday.

Garrett A. Ash, 27, of the first block of Timberbrook Drive in St. Peters, was charged Monday with third-degree domestic assault.

St. Peters Police said Ash pinned his girlfriend to the couch during an argument and began choking her. He later pinned her against the kitchen wall and wrestled with her in an upstairs bedroom to prevent her from getting her cell phone, police said.

The woman had red marks on her neck, according to a police report. St. Peters Police said they believe Ash has assaulted the woman three other times.

Bail was set at $25,000 with the condition that Ash have no contact with the woman.
