St. Peters Man Breaks Into Neighbor's Home, Stuns Man and Threatens Woman

Michael Shane Atwood was charged with burglary and two counts each of assault and armed criminal action.

A St. Peters man broke into a neighbor’s home July 3 and used a stun gun on one resident and threatened a woman in the home.

Michael Shane Atwood, 41, of Linenmann Court in St. Peters, was charged with first-degree burglary and two counts each of second-degree assault and armed criminal action.

St. Peters Police said Atwood went into another home on Linenmann Court and used a stun gun on the man.

Atwood attempted to stun a woman in the home, but the man stepped in front of her and was tazed, according to charges by the St. Charles Prosecuting Attorney’s office.

Atwood then pointed the stun gun at the woman and screamed threats at her, police said.

Bail was set at $50,000 for Atwood, who is being held in St. Charles County jail.
