St. Peters Man Punched Wife, Grabbed Her Nose Caused it to Bleed, Police Say

The man posted $1,000 for bond as the woman requested he be released from jail. The judge barred him from contacting his wife.

A St. Peters man punched his wife and grabbed her nose, causing it to bleed on Feb. 10, police said.

Stephan Surplus, 43, of the 1500 block of Athens Drive in St. Peters, was charged Feb. 10 with third-degree domestic assault.

St. Peters Police said Surplus punched his wife in the arm twice, shoved her over and then grabbed her nose, causing a nosebleed.

Officers reported that a witness said Surplus is an excessive alcohol drinker and uses cocaine.

“The victim believes if he is released, he will return to the house and assault her again,” police wrote in a report. “The suspect appeared to be increasingly agitated at the prospect of being removed from the residence.”

Surplus posted 10 percent of a $10,000 bond and was released Monday. The court ordered that Surplus have no contact with his wife. Prosecutors did not object to bond because the victim requested that he be released from jail, according to court documents.

"Prosecutors did not object to bond because the victim requested that he be released from jail, according to court documents." Mrs. Surplus, you need to divorce him. He will assault you again. No matter what he says, He will do it again. Maybe next time he will kill you.
