St. Peters Man Seriously Injured in Wreck on I-70

Robert Staufenbiel was in his semi-truck on I-70 when a utility truck, salting the highway, failed to notice the stopped semi and hit the towed unit of the truck. Staufenbiel was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A 51-year-old St. Peters man was seriously injured in a car accident along Interstate 70 Monday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol website, Robert Staufenbiel in his 2002 International 4900 semi-truck on I-70, near the Bryan Road exit, when a utility truck salting the highway failed to notice the stopped semi and hit the towed unit of the semi.

Staufenbiel was taken to St. Joseph East Hospital by St. Charles County ambulance.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
