Update: St. Peters Police Arrest Suspect for Receiving Stolen Property

Benjamin Lillard, 23, of the 1st block of Country Creek in St. Peters, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

St. Peters Police have arrested a man they believe is connected to a series of recent burglaries.

According to a release from the police, Benjamin Lillard, 23, of the 1st block of Country Creek in St. Peters, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Update: On Wednesday morning, St. Peters Police said Lillard was charged with first degree burglary as well. 

Police said a burglary occurred in the 900 block of Comstock Station during the overnight hours of July 22 while the victim slept. Police believe the suspect entered the home via an unlocked rear door and took a smartphone and cash from a kitchen table inside the residence.

Several hours after police took the burglary report, the victim contacted officer. The victim said a GPS app on the phone was showing a current location on Country Creek.

Officers responded to the address on Country Creek and a phone from the Comstock Station burglary and a stolen firearm, from a burglary on July 20th on the 500 block of Wyatt Drive, were located in the residence.

Police found found Lillard hiding in the attic of the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Police said Lillard was recently released from prison in February 2013 after serving 15 months for Burglary 2nd and various other charges. At the time of his recent arrest, he had outstanding arrest warrants for assault.

He is currently being held at St. Charles County Jail of a $5,000 bond. St. Peters Police said the investigation is ongoing and more charges will follow.
